Aggresive cat

My one-and-a-half year old cat is becoming more and more aggresive and destructive. We cannot leave her alone with the children, and she must be locked up if anyone visits, because she attacks them. She is ruining furniture as well. I'm becoming afraid of her and only see euthanasia as an option.

Any ideas? She is perfectly healthy otherwise.

If you have explored all avenues and bottom line is that your cat is just plain aggressive...............Ask your vet about a drug called Amitriptyline. It's a drug used to de-stress cats and "mellow" them out. It's got to be better than euthanasia.
If you cat is "hard to pill", you can get it in a Transdermal form. (absorbs through the skin). Talk to your vet and good luck.

You might also try Feliway - to destress the cat. You can get it at Petsmart or any pet store really.

Maybe check with the vet anyway. There could be a physical reason. Has she been neutered?

Badger, see anything wrong with that question"Has SHE been neutered?"
Just kidding
As for the aggressive cat, maybe the kids have treated her badly before and now her defense-mechanism kicks in? Kids sometimes think they can pull tails, throw the cat around, not thinking they are doing anything wrong,I've seen it before(not my kids!)where even the parents think it's ok
Then the cat is stressed and fearful and showing it in an aggressive way.
Before you take the easy way out and kill her, take her to the vet, discuss the problem, she could be in pain or extreemly stresed out.
