Hi
I'm interested in getting a clipper for my fairly large adorable Bernese Mountain Dog (Nooma). I don't "shave" him, I just like to keep his hair around one inch long... he looks much sleeker and athletic than when I let his hair grow long (at which point he looks lazy and fat)

I need assistance on three main points... clipper, blade choice and seller.

Clipper:
I am considering the following and would appreciate advice:
Oster A5 Golden 1-speed
Oster A5 Golden 2-speed
Oster A5 Golden turbo

Blades:
There are no metal blades that cut to one inch, so that means I need to his the "comb" attachments? Do they work well? What blade should I use with the comb attachment? Most of the online sellers sell it with a #10 blade.

Seller:
My priority is price, but would consider slightly higher if it's in Canada and even a bit higher if local in Montreal.
I want to buy everything (clipper, blades, attachments, blade wash, oil, etc) in one place. Do you recommend any seller?

Thanks
Stephane

Thanks for this store suggestion, they have a fair price and all the equipment I need.
Now I just need to narrow down on the clipper choice and the attachments

Stay away from the Osters!! They're heavy and need maintenance. Get an Andis AGC 2 speed. You'll need a #40 blade(this is a short blade only to be used under your attachment) and get a few attachments (I like the black Oster attachments). Get a 1/2, 3/4, and a #1. You have to make sure your dog is clean and totally free of mats and undercoat before you use an attachment blade. If you did want to buy a metal blade, the #3 leaves about 3/4 inch - looks great on Bernese Mountain dogs. You could order directly from the Pet Supply House in Ontario or Rens Depot. They both have competetive prices. Good luck!

I've been looking at these andis clippers for my cocker. http://www.dog.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=1...oming%20Supply Afghan breeder I'm close to swears by them. I use my current andis' with varying combs and just a number 10 blade. I was told I should have at least 2 blades for whatever I use most often. I haven't played yet with other blade numbers, but I never use the clippers without the combs so..

I have an Oster 2 speed and it works great. Used on a cockapoo, himalayan and now a bichon cross. I have had it for over 4 years. No problems. I don't know about blades, I just shave them short. I also bought them at the petsupplyhouse.com. Excellent business.

Well, just so I put some feedback for those that may find it useful....

I purchased the Oster Golden A5 2 speed clipper, with a #30 blade and the comb attachments. I made the purchase online at Ren's depot, an online Canadian retailer. Got a good price and quick delivery.

The clipper works great and I am very satisfied.
