Golden retriever - St-Hubert, Quebec
Some children who go to the school where I work brought me a golden retriever tonight. They found him in the school yard. He was covered in mud. I would estimate him to be about 4 or 5 years old. No tags just a choke collar. He is not neutered.

Well it has been 24 hours since I found the golden boy. I have contacted everyone I can think of and left my name and phone number but no one has claimed him. Hard to believe that someone took the time to train him yet they don't care where he is spending the night.

South shore, eh? I know one up here that gets out often and is intact and has no tags... I don't think he'd make it that far... Is he a red one?

No, he is a medium gold, I have seen his photo. He has been named Marc and is scheduled for shots and neutering later next week, if not claimed. Then he will go on the rescue website.

I believe Linda did call them, plus the pounds, vet clinics, etc.
Here's one of his pics: |

Poor thing, looks kinda sad. Who would dump such a beautiful animal? He looks to be in pretty good shape, too.

The neighborhood kids, brought me 2 georgous yellow labs one evening, everything was closed so I didn't know what to do with them .
Soooo I though if I start walking them up and down the main street closest to my home the owner may see us, or the dogs may lead my to their home. Sure enough I walked less then 15 minutes, and the owner driving a truck spotted us, he was soooo releived (the dogs were mother and son) and mom dog has figured out how to open the gate so her and her son can go for a dip in the creek by our house Doesn't he have a tatoo? My point is, maybe if you walk him on the main street close to the area you found him the owner may spot him

Yes, I did call the SPCA Monteregie, SCDD, SPCA in Montreal and a vet hospital on the south shore. I left my home and work numbers with everyone.
No one has called about this boy yet. He is in good shape although I find him a bit thin and of course he needs to be neutered. He is with another volunteer right now as I was going to the U.S. and without his vaccinations could not bring him with me. I guess at this point it is unlikely anyone will claim him. I would be frantic if one of my dogs were missing. After the kids found him I did have them bring him around the neighborhood. I heard the next day from some other kids at the school where I work that he had been hanging around for awhile that day. I suspect my neighbor's dogs are not spayed and this is why he chose our neighborhood. If not claimed he will go to the vet to be checked, vaccinated and neutered and will be up for adoption on our web site. He is a really nice dog and knows his basic commands. We will make sure his next family gives a darn if he goes missing. |
