Teaching a puppy how to listen

Another little trick we learned for starting a puppy on training was how to get it to listen to you.

Obviously, using treats with training will often get you their full attention, but this neat little trick works wonders as well.

When you are talking to your puppy, speak in a soft whisper to it. They will strain to hear what you are saying. If you perform your training using whispers often, the dog will learn to always listen very closely to you.

My dog actualy responds better if I talk to him in a whisper than if I talk loudly.
