The Snows of August

Around here, I can probably do one of the "Snows of . . ." threads every month.

Walking with Ruby and Pete in Kananaskis Country, Alberta, we find snow out in the open, from last winter . . .

Leading to a nice swim in a snow-fed lake on a very hot day . . .

Pete enjoys an icy stream . . .

A snow patch is nice on the feet for Pete and Ruby. The area on the other mountain in the distance was closed due to a Grizzly feeding on a carcass.

Below, Pete on the trail . . .

Below, Ruby on the way home . . . .

For amusement, the same place in early October last year:

continued below . . . .

Below, walking with Pete on the shores of Chain Lakes, their favourite place . . . . this is crown grazing land with miles of shoreline for walking.

Pete relaxes in the shade on a hot day on a walk in the West Bragg Creek area of K-Country

Below, Pete and Ruby ford a stream in the West Bragg Creek area

Pete at sunrise at home . . .

Looking over the fence in the same spot, sunrise with the Rockies nearby

Breathtaking scenery as always, Rick! Pete and Ruby are lucky dogs to have ended up with a dad who likes to hike!!

BTW, my calendar came! Pete and Ruby's month is the best!!!

Beautiful pics, Ric

Those dogs are so lucky to have you as a parent.

I've always said that the Alberta Rockies are as close to heaven as you can get.
