Thumbs up Charlie and the Choclate Factory

I watched Charlie and the Choclate Factory this week. I thought it was pretty good, although I could do without all the singing, but I know that was a big part of the original. I love the way Tim Burton makes movies. I haven't seen the original since I was 6, but I guess the new one is a closer adaptation of the book by Ronald Dahl

I have only one peice of advice - Make sure you have lots of choclate on hand while watching this movie.

I never wanted choclate so bad in my life.

Best line from the movie "Don't touch that squirrels nuts"

I just bought it for my brother for his birthday next week and he told me I could watch it... So I did...

It was great. WAAYYYY closer to the book than the original. I don't like singing, but hey, it's in the book. The only two things I really didn't like were when the woman finds the golden ticket in the factory and tries to pocket it- in the book, she stands up right away screaming that she has it, so in the end they make an originally honest worker become dishonest, and second was when charlie finds the money on the ground. In the book, they make a point to say he only buys one because he has to bring the money back to his parents because they need it more than him and in the movie, they just have him spending it like a greedy person.

But other than that it was good. Johnny Depp was a good Willy.

Oh, my favorite line: "That's the puppet burn unit. It's relatively new."

I just watched it with my kids.

Most irritating part - the songs! I don't mind that they had to follow the original, and have singing, but who ever composed and recorded those awful songs?! Noise, noise, noise, can't hear the lyrics, just awful. My suggestion is they should have made the songs the same as those puppets singing. At least that was audible.

The rest of the movie was good. Fav. line - the pink cotton candy sheep "I don't want to talk about that'. oh and wasn't that 'whipped cream' also bad taste?

I think the whipped cream was in the book too... Roald Dahl likes literal jokes...
