More random food discoveries...

So I went out to get some more canned Evo (because the RABBIT came in this week!!!), and I happened to get to my store when the distributer was there...

So more random things...

The Evo Rabbit is $1.50 more per can (probably more or less depending on your store) than the Evo Beef (which my doggies tried this afternoon and was soooo yummy smelling)...

Holistic blend is redoing their canned line, making it all organic, so removing the fake vitamins. So the Fruits and Veggies side dish will be only f&v puree. They have other ones too, but I don't know the details about them..
http://www.holisticblend.com/foods_mcocf.html (you can see the cans at the top, but the ingredients aren't posted yet.)

I also splurrrrrged and bought the $20/113.4g Whole Food Toppers Pure Salmon... It's freeze dried salmon bits with nothing added.
http://www.completenaturalnutrition.com/

They say that one of these teeny 4oz bags rehydrates to one pound of wet food if you let it soack in warm water.

What's interesting about it is it's just salmon meat, with the water removed and is 61% protein and 19% fat.

I got it to give to Jemma this month while she's on the super elimination diet as cookies... So far so good.

So yep, that's the scoop from my end. (that I can remember right now anyway)

Waiiit!! I forgot the coolest part!

Fromm makes GRAVY! Teeny cans with fairly decent ingredients (I think they removed the menadione, right?), that you pour on the food. Perfect for those doggies whose appetites aren't strong enough. They're not on their website though.

Here's an online store with it, if you want to see it... http://www.trinatural.com/fromm/four_star_gravy.php

question... just fruits and veggies with nothing else added? then why not just buy the bottled baby-food kind? at least it's REALLY human-grade and a heck of a lot cheaper i got a whole bunch on sale last month and add some to the kid's raw wet meals a few times per week but i imagine it's ok with kibble too they were $0.33 per jar, no tax.

I don't know if the human ones would be cheaper... They probably would be much sweeter though.

How big was the jar? This was $3.19 for a big can... (and you get an idea of the veggie/fruit ingredients from the link to the old can)

I haven't tried the rehydration yet... I'm too in awe that I'm actually touching fish and not minding so much.

ok when the food is available, tell me how much they are and I'll give you a comparison - in my experience, dog food is waaay more expensive than human food and you pay taxes on top of it Also, why would the baby food be sweeter? there is no added sugar, preservatives, anything... ie the pureed carrots are just that, nothing else added. unless the dog food variety removes the naturally occuring sugar?

Yeah, this is pureed everything all mooshed together... So the bitter ones probably prevail... Have to wait another couple weeks for the final product to be released.

Oh, we'll definitely have to wait and see, because if you talk to Holistic blend directly, they don't even have a clue what's going on themselves... And now that I look at their website, even though everybody "knows" they're taking out the fake vitamins and minerals, it still says they're going to be in there...

It's an interesting concept, but we have to wait and see what they do with it...

Yeah, but then you depend on the seasons and the veggies you have access to can be quite limited compared to what veggies they put in the can... Excuses, excuses...
