Dry Nose And Paw Pads

our new dog honey, has a very dry rough nose and paw pads, does anyone know if this is a problem and if there is anything i can do for her, she goes to the vet next week for shots and check up and to be spayed.

hi luba, the dog is a golden retriever that we rescued, she was abandoned and left to starve until a very nice lady decided to fly her home and find aforever home for her which was us. She is approximately 6 to 8 months we are not sure, she came from a northern part of the province, and was a garbage dog.

Her coat is shiny and healthy looking, she has been dewormed and i recently gave her a flea bath, her eating is great and she drinks an awful lot of water.
She is very friendly and good natured, but as i said her nose is very dry and rough as well as her paws and she has a scar on the tip of her nose as well.

It could be due to the weather.

What I mean by that is the the snow,and ice could have done a bit of damage to the paws.And the cold wind on the nose.Or for the paws it could also be from walking on concrete alot.

This happened to my before.It was just a mild case.

What I started doing was rubbing Vitimin E oil on their paws and nose.It has really helped.

They are very healthy,so it wasn't a health concern.The vet agreed on that.

There are some products for this.Such as:

Bee Dance Honey

Soothables Tender Foot.

You say she drinks alot.I'd be a bit concerned abouth that.

Make sure you mention this to the vet.

Firstly, I hope she's had a full vet check

Next, as Mona suggests vitamin e
Some dogs will lick it right off though.
I would put it in her food, get some vit e capsuls pop them with a toothpick and squirt one on her food daily.

What are you currently feeding her?

So true Luba about the licking.

This is why it must be thourghly rubbed in good.

Yukon and Tron licked a bit of it off.But I kept them busy after I had worked it in.

Unfortunately putting it in the food won't do much for the paws.It has to go directly on the paws.

How long have you had her?Has she been checked by a vet since you've had her?

Yes Mona balogna true true true, I was hoping it would help nourish the skin and coat as well but I think ur idea is wonderful to rub it in really good.

As Mona says, keep occupied, maybe get a big beef bone to chew on

You are so right Luba Booba....It will nourish the skin and coat.Will put a beautiful shine to the coat.

As for the dewormer,I hope it's not the pet store kind.It does squat.
