A beautiful story and so nice for her that she got the photo of Lily with the baby. This was a particularly nice thought.
When Elijah gets old enough to understand, we’ll show him the photos of him and Lily, and tell him that for a few days he had the best dog a boy could ever want.

I did laugh at this though
Now the routines of dog walks and vet visits have given way to diaper changes and pediatricians (whom, embarrassingly, I have referred to as “vets” a couple of times, though thankfully not to their faces).

A dog breeder/exhibitor friend, who also was a registered nurse, amused everyone when, at the change of shift, she told them that the patient, Mr whoever, had such and such thing wrong with his hind leg. Complete silence for a minute then they all burst out laughing, telling her she'd had dogs too long.
You'd be proud to call that woman a friend and I think Lily is gorgeous, I actually prefer oldies to pups.

Me too

This one I'd like to tatoo
My dog was my baby. She taught me that a slobbery, stinky creature could pee on my shoes, poop everywhere, complicate my life in a million aggravating ways – and at the same time inspire so much love that my heart felt like it would burst with happiness
