What about yoghurt?

Good? Bad? We just came in and found Frodo, our shih tzu, licking out my empty yoghurt container.
Thanks
Sue

yogourt is Fine! Some people feed it to their dogs regularly, the plain yogourt is best if you use it as a treat for your dog.... but licking out a flavoured container is fine!

yogourt

Yogourt is also very good for your dogs coat. One of our adoptees gives their dog a tbsp of all natural yogourt daily and the dog's coat is amazing. It also helps to eat any bacteria living in the dog on the way through and out.

My dogs get a heaping tablespoon of yogurt every day, part of their evening meal....they love it!!! Since we started doing that, Laney hasn't had another ear infection......coincidence? maybe.

i feed each of my two dogs a tablespoon or so of plain yogurt every day, with a little honey water mixed in... they love it & haven't experienced any ill effects. to make the honey water i mix equal parts, nuke it in the microwave, stir it up and then cool it and store it in the fridge.

food food

Thanks everyone for replying. I actually forgot that I posted this question and haven't checked the board since. ha
I think I will start giving Frodo a tbsp a day too. I got really hung up on not allowing my dog to have any junk food or human food etc...just *good, healthy dog food* HA. Oxymoron? I gave his some of my stir fried rice this morning with that 'good healthy food' and he gobbled it all up. I just didn't want to introduce too many new foods because I don't want him to develop allergies. I think I'm safe with rice, salmon, chicken...and yoghurt.
Thanks again everyone.

One of our dogs is allergic to yogurt. Both dogs get a tblsp of low fat cottage cheese in their dry twice a day though. Not sure if it has any health benefit, but they sure do love it. They also love brown rice. Straight dry food MUST be boring after a while.

Just make sure it has acidopholus (sp) in it is the active culture. I give Buddy 2 tablespoons every night but he gets the vanilla what can I say he is spoiled and yes I feed it to him on a small plate so he doesn't miss any of it.
