What kind of puppy am I?

Hi! We just adopted this pup, Cosmo, from a rescue group. They said that he was roaming the streets, and no one had claimed him for a month. We adore him, but no one is sure what breeds he is. People think German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, Rottweiler, etc. Any thoughts? He's got such distinctive markings. We did send away for the DNA - results in three weeks, for what it's worth.

Thanks for any help!

I have an Akita X and I don't see Akita in your boy. I see GSD/Husky. He sure is cute. I love the white tips. Thank you for rescuing him and please let us know what his DNA results show.

I don't see any rottweiler or akita.

I second (or third, or fourth ) shepherd/husky. Or just call him an alaskan husky instead of a siberian AH's are mixbreeds of anything that can run fast for racing...sometimes not even much husky left in them. Your fellow looks much more husky than many of the AH's do.

He looks like he's been wading in white paint! What a doll!

Welcome to the board, lexsportiva!

Whatever he is, he sure is cute!! I would also guess GSD/Husky.

Keep us posted from what you hear back from the results!

You know, it could just be lack of sleep, but at this hour he has a definite flavor of Bernese Mtn Dog...maybe x with husky?

He's just as cute as he was earlier, though

I think that's just his colour talking to you I don't see BMD at all. Others with similar colouring could be Kelpie, Border Collie or Australian Shepherd but I don't see any of them either.

He's gorgeous whatever he is I have a couple I'll never know for sure about either (Thunder & Flash).

Thanks all. Much appreciated! I'll update the thread when I get the DNA results back. Not sure how accurate they'll be, but it should be fun to get them!

I'm interested to see how accurate they seem to be. I have been interested in testing my dog, Connor, this way for a while. Never heard of anyone who did it before though, so I was nervous it wasn't worth it!

My guess is Siberian Husky/GSD and some Rottie, but who knows? There was an article not too long ago that said you can't tell by looks what breeds are involved, so it will be interesting to see what the DNA results say. He is a handsome guy!
