Scratching rug

Hey,
My upstairs where Lindy hangs out with us is hardwood(pretty funny comming around the corner at a full run!!!!). I do have an area rug in the living room. Any ideas why she feels the need to scratch at the rug before lying down? I see her doing it with her blanket from time to time? Is she trying to make her bed?
Jane and Lindy(dog tired after an hour and half long walk in the rain)

It's to make a soft spot for her to lay down. If you put a blanket there, she will scratch the blanket into a ball and lay on it probably

nesting

As Luba said, she would do the same with a blanket. She is making a nest. Its natural for animals and totally normal.
