Unhappy moving to a new house dog going crazy

Hello, I have a 11 month pug and we just move last monday to a new house, we use to live in an appartment and I took him 3 times a day for his peeing and pooing, he was so proper and could handle all night without a problem, since Monday has been terrible he poops inside the house and he has diarrhea, I don't know what to do, I know that his routine change so he feels it, but I encourage him with cookies and hugs when he does it out side in the yard.

The added treats can be a cause to the stomach upset as well if this is not something you did in the past.

Keep it simple. His life is upside down right now so he needs consistancy and the ability to explore his new surroundings at the same time. However, it is important not to give him an overload of new things all at once. Take things gradual. Set up some very minor boundries if you do not want him in certain areas. If he relieves himself in the same spot, close it off.

If you must restart training, then umbilical train for a few days. Very important however that you maintain the same routine as before. You want this move to be almost seemless.

Don't forget, he lost his security. He also is going through what you are; moving boxes, loud noises, people coming and going, re-arranging things and furnature. Once things settle, so will he.

The diarrhea makes me wonder if he might have picked something up from the new yard or just has an intestinal imbalance from the stress of the move. You might want to bring a fecal sample into the vet for analysis. The solution may be as simple as a few days of meds.

Congrats on your move, btw.

I'm with BM here, VERY stressful time for a dog. That in and of itself can cause stomach upsets. If it "is" only the stress - then a couple of weeks should do it.

That said, there is always the possibility that something else is also going on - only you as the dog's owner can get a feeling if that's the case...and if it is - vet time.

Good luck.

I'm going through the same thing with Scruffy. We moved to a new city, and are temporarily living in a hotel.
He was very stressed, and started relieving himself inside, both at the motel and at work (I take him to work).
I've worked hard to keep his routine, and did umbilical him for a while. He's settled right down now.
I suspect your dog will settle down soon enough. Congrats on your new house.

When I moved apartments my dog got upset when left alone (he already had some issues with that) and would mess in the house. He improved over about 2 weeks and was fully settled in like nothing had ever changed by 2 months. Try and keep life was routine as normal, do lots of walks around the neighborhood to give him chances to empty himself out and try and keep him in a smaller frequently used area area when you can not watch him.

Like was suggested I would get a fecal test done at the vet to rule out any medical issues, and then I would give your pup some canned pumpkin. I teaspoon morning and night should help with his runny poops if in fact it is just stress. Mind that if you do this you use 100% pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling that is full of spices. The fibre can help your pup's system to regulate again. My dog will just eat it off the spoon or you can put it in his food. Do not use the pumpkin to mask a medical issue though, so the stool sample test is important. Good luck to you, I'm guessing it's stress and will resolve itself soon enough.
