your opinion
As you may have noticed from my posts, I work at a vet clinic. There used to be a lady that owned a pet store and would bring her puppies to us. She frequently brought pure bred dogs in from quebec, that were no doubt from puppy mills. We lost a few of them to parvo this winter. She would have little mixed breed dogs and sold them for an insane amount of money.
Well, this lady (thank god) got out of the business and now does grooming (much better idea). She sold her business to another lady who also comes to us. This lady, however, does not buy puppies, but obtains them from people who've had litters. She brings them in for vaccines and checkups, and sells them for a small amount. Now I know this is still BYB's, but these pups that she takes will usually be sent off to the SPCA. Our SPCA is extremely high kill, I do not have very much to say about them, good things at that. What are your opinions? |

If this woman is buying these puppies, then she is brokering them and encouraging people to be irresponsible by paying them for puppies.
If she is getting them free, vetting them and adopting them out, that's a good thing, as the bybers aren't profiting. |

I believe she is being given these unwanted puppies, but she is charging for them. She can't be making much from them, by the time she pays the vet bill, and to feed them and stuff.

If she's placing them with homes I think she's doing a good thing. I don't believe that animals should ever be free so I'm glad she's charging for them. It is expensive to keep animals and do good vet care and if she keeps a few bucks for her time and care I wouldn't fault her for that. it does make me mad when people (including petland) sell so called purebreds for ridiculous amounts and there is no information available on the background etc.
