Excessive Shedding on Orijen?

Ok I know I've seen a few threads about excessive shedding on Orijen, but I've done a few searches and I can't find them!

I've had Kali on 100% Orijen Senior now for almost a week, and she just seems to be shedding a lot more - and I might be paranoid but it seems that the fur on her shoulders just seem really thin - I can see the skin there - whereas her fur everywhere else is so dense I can't see it through her fur...So that on top of all the gas just makes me worry. Oh yeah I was stuck in the car with her for an 1.5hrs tonight, that was stinky car ride! thank god it didn't start to pour!

I know Kali sheds a lot, being a Lab - but in the last couple of days her coat is always looking ragged (lots of loose hairs) I had thought she was done blowing her coat by now - does it go on all summer??

All three of my dogs only started blowing their coats within the past couple of weeks. Quite late in the season compared to last year.

Just wondering, is she on a topical heartworm/paraciticide treatment?

Have you had her stool sampled lately for parasites? Might be a good idea to look into it. Not long after we brought our Penny home, I had switched her food and, coincidentally, she started to get thinning patches of fur on several areas of her body. I thought it was the food too but it ended up being roundworm and a slight case of mange. A simple treatment and it cleared up within a month.

Has she had a check-up at the vets recently?

(I think/hope I figured it out??)

Oh yes, we've been a frequent visitor in the month...she just had some major surgery in early June - we just got her in March and her previous owner didn't have her spayed - on top of that since she would be put under we had a large cyst removed from her back and another growth on her leg, and in waiting for her surgery appt when we found she also developed several mammary tumours

So it was all done in June, the week following her surgery she ripped out her staples...and after she was off all the antibiotics she got an ear infection...it's been a rough month for Kali  Maybe I shouldn't have bothered changing her food...

If the vet hadn't done it already, it might be a good idea to have her stool analyzed.

It may have been a rough month for Kali, but it's also been the best month too: the first month with her new family that cares so much for her . Congratulations!
