Izzy is clawing a chair in my room
This is a recent behavior. The chair used to be in the living room and now its in my bedroom. She wakes me up in the middle of the night clawing on the chair. I get up and move her but she is back at it a few minutes later. She never bothered the chair when it was in the living room. She has a scratching thing she uses in the living room and she has a scratching post in my bedroom that she doesnt use.
How can I stop her from clawing this chair. She doesnt bother any other piece of furniture in the house. Does the stuff that you spray on the chair help? I was going to put some double sided tape on the chair but since its dark, I dont know exactly where she is scratching the chair. Thanks

Izzy!! Silly girl!! Is this a chair she thinks is "hers"? If so then she thinks she can do what she wants with it. I tend to think the biggest thing is being consistent in your attempts to stop her.
A good site to read: http://www.catscratching.com/ It gives you step by step instructions on teaching her what not to do. Good luck with her. Let us know how she's doing.

Thank you for the link - I skimmed it yesterday but need to take some more time w/the article and try some of the steps mentioned.
Here's how it went last night. About 3 am (her ususal time) I hear the scratching. I sat up and called her up on the bed. I said "this has got to stop. I am tired and I need my sleep. I dont wake you up when you are sleeping now do I." Lo and behold she settled down and that was the end of that! Yea right, if only that were the end! I just thought it was funny how it worked out last night/this morning.

Well, she listens a darn sight better than the Pack does--we have these conversations all the time and it's one ear out the other!
Maybe she just wanted an invitation for a little snuggling?

Awwww, that is too sweet!!! She listened at least. So another two or three weeks of doing that she will have broken her habit.
