Litter Box for Senior/Handicapped Cat?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a litterbox that accommodates an older or handicapped cat? I have a 12-year-old kitty who recently developed neuropathy (we're in the process of trying to diagnose/treat it). She walks with considerable difficulty (balance and coordination are the main culprits) and her standard litterbox has presented a challenge. It's hard for her to climb in and out of it without losing her balance, and once she wasn't able to make it into the box at all, but rather defacated on the towel next to it.
I've done some online shopping and found 2 possible candidates (below), but I'm very open to suggestions! Here are the 2 I'm currently considering, but I think the ideal would be something like the litter champ, only smaller (as the litterbox has moved from the basement to my tiny bathroom). Has anyone tried either of these? Any other suggestions? THANK YOU for reading!! http://www.amazon.com/Booda-Swift-Scoop-Litter-Polar/dp/B0017JJNR4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Champ-Li...1804617&sr=1-3 |

You could also try an under-bed storage box with one of the sides cut down lower (if the edge feels sharp, wrap a strip of duct tape over it). I've never tried the ones in your link but I'd be worried they weren't big enough. In kitties with diminished mobility, lots of room to turn around is necessary.
