I'm not driving right now but if I were buying , without question, a manual all the way! I would never consider an automatic again (I learned on auto and drove on auto for the first ten years) ~ you are literally not really driving, you aren't working an engine unless you are shifting gears. *Sigh* I miss driving.

Both my cars our automatic. Everybody assumes my Honda is a manual though. I have no clue how to drive a manual and I don't really have any desire to learn.

to me, the point of driving is to get from point A to point B, as safely as possible and with minimal fuss... i want both hands free and why use two feet if one will do? today's automatics have alot of power, not like the clunks of yesteryear... if you get a good engine, that's what counts

i'll save my energy for holding my hot latte while driving through city traffic and not spilling a drop, LOL!

Ah, see for me driving is not about point A to point B, it's about having fun!!! Both hands on the wheel and using only one foot.... so boring.

A lot of people think it's a lot of work to drive stick, but once you know your car, it's second nature and actually easier than auto.

I LOVE a stick shift, but my dream car (my Saturn) was an automatic. I took what I could get. I learned on a stick shift though and can drive one if I need to. My last car was a stick shift. I prefer it. I like the get up and go they usually have and I get bored easily, so shifting gears gives me something to do. lol

Auto, up until I moved in the middle of nowhere, I was living in Montreal, and working at least 30-40 kms from there , always in traffic, I didn't have the patience for a stick. Still don't . Too busy switching radio stations, cd, radio, cd....

I don't like automatic.. I find it so dull. All you do is steer. Oo lala.

Standard all the way, baby! If you have a standard, there's almost nothing you can get stuck in. Snowbank schmobank!

My great aunt who turned 80 this year had to special order her toyota echo because she wanted it standard. She always says an automatic isn't a real car.

My man's not allowed an auto either.

If you can't hold your coffee, burger and cellphone while driving a standard, then you shouldn't be drinking coffee, eating a burger or talking on the phone while driving.

But it's a latte not just a coffee . I grew up with the stick shift and switched to automatic about 5 years ago. Much easier to drive in city traffic especially in hilly North Van . With regards to being stuck in snow vs a manual you can also use the lower gears of the automatic with the same result. Hubby gave me "the look" when I bought the first automatic but after driving my car he bought an automatic last year.

I'm auto, but wish I were manual. I can drive stick anything except a car. I can drive tractors etc... but whenever I try to drive a car I always screw it up. Practice makes perfect. I should rent a manual car and practice on it, that way I don't have to ruin the car of someone I know while practicing

I'm 23 and I drive a manual little Toyota Celica. I loved it when I lived in Vancouver, but now in Montreal traffic I'm lucky to get beyond first gear!! But I DO love my manual baby and wouldn't change her in any way! (Well maybe new rims and cold air exhaust....)

I have an aftermarket air intake with K&N cone filter, and an anti-sway bar. Only thing is, my summer rims are a piece of doo doo and when I got a screw in my tire last summer the low profile tire shredded, they said that they wouldn't bother replacing it if they were me 'cause the rims are pretty bad (I got them for $350 with the brand new tires). So, now I'm stuck with winter tires on the regular rims. I can't find 'summer rims' cheap enough, so I may have to get all seasons, hopefully I can get something for the winters.
