The green hills of home

We were away in England for a few weeks and returned to a very green valley here in southwestern Alberta, Keeper standing sentinel towards sunset as always, the Rockies poking their heads out in the mist on the horizon.

And yesterday, I took Abby & Keeper out to the Bluerock area in Kananaskis where we had to rush back to civilization to evade the approaching thunderstorm in this photo so we weren't blown to atoms by a lightning bolt. The bridge crosses a pretty hefty gorge of about 75 or more feet so I had hold of Abby's leash pretty good. This is the Sheep River west of Calgary.

Thank you for your comments.

I use a Panasonic DMC FZ20 Digital with 5.1 megapixels and a 35-420 zoom. A little expensive but worth it. I wanted a higher pixel count and a wide zoom range.

While it may look like paradise, numerous communities nearby are probably going to be flooded today.

I'm sitting in High River, Alberta right now and the Highwood River is rubbing the bottom of the bridges when I crossed this morning and it seems likely to go over its banks sometime today. In Okotoks, they might flood a bit as well - the Sheep River portrayed above also passes through in the distance of the green photo as well, but off in the distance.

No wonder its so green!!

As you can tell from the photo above though, all the ice caps in the world would have to melt before Abby & Keeper would be in danger!! We're about 4,500 feet above sea level.
