Cuz I always wanted two tan dogs and two black dogs to match the decor ?

Just kidding.

It's cuz Lucky begged and begged and begged...and promised to take care of her, to exercise her, and to play with her .

Ok, ok, I prepared this long novella and just deleted it . Simply put, we're the right family for her and she's the right pup for our family (every one of us had to be in agreement). It's not that we don't love all our previous fosters, it was either the dynamics between all the dogs wasn't quite right, or that we, as a family, couldn't provide them with their individual long-term needs. We adopted Toby because he needed us and, we suspected his time was limited . I wouldn't have had it any other way.

That's not to say that I didn't want to adopt them all and, I suspect I'll always feel that way, about past and future fosters . I can't help but get deeply attached to them . But I have a crusty old man that keeps me grounded and a wonderful, supportive friend Frenchy , who's always there to remind me why we do this and to offer support when I either fret too much or feel sorry for myself .
