Panleukopenia

I am considering adopting a cat that has been living with another cat that survived feline distemper. My cat is now approx. 9 months, fully vaccinated and appears to be a very healthy boy. My concern is that he will be around other cats that are not vaccinated due to age and unknown vaccine status. Should this be a concern?

Cats who survive distemper continue to shed the virus for several months after recovery and are contagious.

Since your cat is fully vaccinated, he should be okay, but you might want to keep the new cat isolated for awhile just to be on the safe side.
