why is it that my baby gerbils are either black or white and never a mixture of the two colours

genetics

It all depends on the color genetics of the parrents..if you have 2 solid color parents you will get solid babies most likely..unless there is a broken patern in the background.

thanx. i just wondered as the mother is pure black and the father is pure white, i get litters of one or the other but not both.
