Question cat with a worm?

I have an outside cat and she had something about 12 inches long hanging out of her anus. It looked flat but possibly open on the ends? It was not segmented like any tape worm I have ever seen and it was textured like this [ l l l l l l l ] almost ribbed in appearance. I placed my shoe on it and it came out and was moving. Anyone know what this was?

It must have been a tapeworm. You need to get her some de-worming medicine from the VET (don't buy OTC stuff). Take in a stool sample to be tested.

Tapeworms can be pretty dangerous. Like, as in could kill your cat dangerous. Yuck.

Anyways,..... what did you um, do with it after it fell out of your cats butt? Bag it and bring it to the vets if you can.

Yes tapeworms come out only in parts ... like rice/sesame seeds

please take your cat to the vet , and once she's treated for worms , keep her inside , it's much too dangerous for them outside.

Sounds to me like an adult tapeworm. They don't come out in segments.. if they come out they are whole. NASTY! Roundworm look like spaghetti noodles. I don't think they have any texture to them.

Your definitely going to need to get wormer from the vet. The pet store stuff should be taken off the market.

ehh it really depends. Roundworms don't really get that big and are not segmented. My cats had roundworms before and I found them in a pile of poop in the litterbox. They were short and pointy at both ends.

It would more likely be an adult tapeworm as Rayne said.

Unless I am getting my worms confused I really should know this stuff by now

Yeah Rayne I beleive you are correct..They only segment when they exit the body. This one sounds like an adult one which coming out could be to your advantage..Regardless really you need to take a sample if you have it to the vet and they will give you the right wormer!

Good Luck
