Meet our new rescue
We just got her from the pound today, she was a seizure, I think they brought her in with several other animals. We saw the cage they found her in and it wasn't even big enough for her to turn around in. Apparently she's been handled a lot though because she's extremely friendly, and she's been laying around with the kitties.
We took her to someone we know who used to breed and show rabbits and she weighed her. 6.36 lbs. Just about as big as the cats . Haven't taken her to the vet yet but our friend checked her ears and everything and said she was in good health overall. More pictures to come. She's such a sweet bunny though!
Though earlier she was doing ninja kicks. She'd hop in the air and spin around kicking her back leg out, I think she was happy to be out running around for once. Wish I could have caught that on camera, lol. |

He's never seen a rabbit before. Once he gets used to it they'll be friends though. He has absolutely no prey instinct (except maybe with toy mice, lol), and actually used to cuddle and play with my bird.
The camera didn't catch the cat batting the bunny on the head while it was trying to cuddle with him. Don't worry though, he's declawed (was when we got him) and my other cats claws are clipped. Last edited by MyBirdIsEvil; December 2nd, 2006 at 12:59 AM. |

Bunny Rescue
MyBirdIsEvil...
cute bunny I had 2 bunnies, last one died this summer (7 years old). We got them at 6 weeks, brothers and had them both neutered. They made wonderful pets. Both were litter trained and it was heart warming to watch them groom each other. Distinctly different personalities. I have learned alittle over the years after looking after my two. Important to provide something they can chew on as their teeth grow (like a hamsters) and keep nails trimmed or they catch on things and can hurt the bunny. Too many greens can upset a bunnies tummy, we only gave lettuce as a treat. Celery is not suppose to be good for them. Another treat our bunnies loved was a graham cracker every now and then. Of course it goes without saying that fresh water is a must. We fed them alfalpha pellets as the staple in their diet. The ears tell alot about the mood your rabbit is in and jumping, flipping and running shows they are happy. Ours also loved to be gently rubbed at the base of the ears...would put the one to sleep.............anyway good luck and congrads on the new member of the family.....Vel |
