Constantly itching and flakey puppy
I have a Rottweiler puppy, about 5 months of age. He had parvo at about 3 months of age but fully recovered. after his recovery he lost all of his hair. As his hair grew back he developed bumps on his stomach, around his butt, and on the inside of his legs. He itches and wines constantly. Now he has flakes and sores on his skin. I have been putting Sulfadine on it and washed him with flee shampoo but things jsut seem to keep getting worse. Now he is starting to lose the hair around his eyes... I didn't think it was mange at first, but now i am beginning to wonder.

I think this puppy needs to see a vet yesterday.

I'd hold off on the Sulfadine and flea baths until the vet sees him. |

Yes, he definately needs to see a vet ASAP. Poor puppy, how uncomfortable he must be.

i know
but it isn't that easy... it isn't exactly my dog, it is the people I live with and they just dont seem to care about their animals like they should... and i dont have a job, i just graduated so that is why i was trying to find an alternative solution other than an expensive vet visit... thank you though

unless you get it diagnosed, you can't treat it. Doing so may just aggravate it. Try to talk them into taking the dog to the vet.

Can you not get some money together? Life is not going to get any better for this guy until he is properly treated. Your remedies are not working and possibly making his condition worse.
Your friends are idiots. Why get a dog and then treat it so cruelly. If all else fails, I would call Animal Protection on them because this is animal abuse, period. Of course, they'd probably throw you out but they don't sound like keepers anyway, you definitely deserve better friends. |

well i called a vet and he came to the house and gave it a shot for mange and worms. So hopefully that will work.

A shot for mange? I've never heard of this. The only treatments I know of are dips, topical lotions and oral liquid ivermectin all of which require repeats. What's the name of this shot?
As well, the only real way I'm aware of to diagnose mange is with a skin scraping and microscope. Your vet brought a microscope to your house ? I've also never heard of a shot for worms. What's the name of this shot? And a Vet who does housecalls? Hmmmm... how unusual. |

wow
you guys are jsut a bunch of detectives huh... anyway.. I had a pig that was sick, and i woke up and found over night it had gotten much worse and i thought it was going to die. So i called the vet i usually take MY dog [not the puppy] too and she said they do not take pigs, but she gave me a number for a vet who did. So i called this vet and he said he was on his way back into town and would pass buy where we live, we live 20 minutes out of town. While he was here treating the pig, he saw the pig and said it looked like mange and that he might have worms, so he gave him a shot, i cant exactly tell what it says b/c his writting is like a Dr.s, but i think it says Isomer or something like that... 3cc's of it... and on the check it has his name with D.V.M. beside it... and the other vet wouldn't refer me to him if he wasn't a real vet. Because the pig was about to die, I was just liek I am going to do it no matter how much it cost, but it only ended up costing $40.00.
I was going to get back on here and says i haven't really saw a change in the puppy so what should i do, but i know it is just take him to the vet, and i know you guys are just going to yell at me and giv e me some more quotes so you guys just have a good day, and goodjob at running people who come here for help off. |
