Post FLUTD leakage
I recently had my male cat treated for a FLUTD by catheter... the day after he was discharged I noticed he was constantly dribbling urine. I took him back to the vet, and they examined him and told me that it was normal ... bladder spasms caused by irritation or inflammation and that it could be controlled with Valium.
The Valium seems to work for 7-8 hour periods, but it is accompanied with lethargy and reduced co-ordination. His urine movement, hydration and appetite seem good. I'm wondering if incontinence is normal after receiving treatment for FLUTD and how long can I expect this to last for? |

I've never heard of FLUTD treatment by catheter. Did he have a complete blockage? Maybe the catheter stretched his little whizzer and he just needs a few days to recover.
Was your cat prescribed an antibiotic for the infection? My male cat has suffered through FLUTD, but only with minor crystal formation, he was prescribed an antibiotic and urinary Hill's prescription food (horribly un-nutrititious food). His infection was cleared up within a week and there was no catheter or leakage involved.
