Funny you ask, cuz I never play loud music since I have the dogs. I figure their sense is more developpe than ours , so they must hear loud music even louder. I keep loud music listening for when I'm in the car and when I leave in the morning, I put "their" radio to an easy listening station

They really do have sensitive ears, Smoke even attacks the phone if I have my husband on speaker phone (he's a VERY loud talker). And when it rings... and if it beeps....wait maybe she just hates the phone. I know mine always move to another room or the basement if we are watching tv or listening to music too loud. They prefer us to whisper sweet nothings in their ears I guess....

Cats and dogs both are much more sensitive to loud noises than humans. And, yes, it does hurt their ears.

I recently read a study that showed how damaging loud music is to animals since their hearing is so much more sensitive than ours!! I try to keep that in mind for my babies!

I wondered that myself. Everytime I turn on the music (whether it is "loud" or not), Sam & Josie both immediately leave the room.

See and with her she will hang out right on the floor,so i cant really tell, but then she would start zooming around and her ears would move every time the bass would start,so i kind of thought it probably wasnt good for her but wasnt sure.

Loud music is bad for human ears so of course it's not good for a dog or cat's ears.
I would never expose any of my pets to loud music. Cindy |

When I turn my stereo on my cats actually come downstairs and lay on the couch and listen to the music, the only other time they really venture downstairs is a feeding time.

Cats are very sensitive to loud noise. Believe it or not, the US Army even funded an experiment and determined loud noise is extremely detrimental to a cat's hearing, much moreso than humans:

cats ARE sensitive to loud sounds. But it's music as opposed to noise. I listen to loud music ranging from Massive Attack to Rammstein and my cat sleeps through anything I play......yes including the loud German metal lol. But once I turn the vaccuum on, both cats hide, and my vacuum insn't much louder than my stereo. I think a cat will tell you when she's bothered by noise, but I don't think ear movement always mean that it's too loud.I think she's intrigued by the new sounds.

I always wondered that because my old room mates used to play their music loud. When they did,I'd take the cats into another room just to be safe.
