Husky x/ Lab mix (crying)

Hello I am new to this forum!

Anyways I am a new dog owner, and never really own a dog before, the wife has so us togather would like to make this happen with are kids and our-selfs.

Here are my questions:

He is about 8 weeks old and was taking from his mother, This is are 2nd day and he seems to be crying alot?

- Now from what I know, this dog will cry and that is because he misses his mother...right?

- And he will cry at door all the time , so we let him out to pee, he is pretty good with that, but when he comes back in he will go back and cry again...?

What are some good idea you have to help make this dog feel at home, we hold him and pat him and feed and all the thing you need to do.

But is there more and how long will a puppy cry for till he gets over the mother?

Welcome to pets.ca H and LMix

You are describing a normal 8 wk old puppy that has only been away from it's mom and siblings for 2 days.

Are you spending as much time as you can with him playing and interacting with him? And, when he cries to go out please go outside with him. Also, does he have some toys to play with to entertain himself while you are busy?

Where does he sleep at night? In a crate in your bedroom would be the best.

And, finally, we love pics here so I hope you have some of your boy to share.

Sound great, and picture I will try to get.

But to fill in your questions:

He has bones and a stuff dog and some other little doggy things that the wife got.

And when he wine at the door I put a leech around him and let him go pee or poo, *one thing is it better to try and let him go without the leech or should I wait till he gets to know his name better*? and I am alway with him outside unless he gos out on the deck.

If you want to teach him to pee/poop in a certain spot or your yard is not fenced then you definitely need to take him out on a leash but you should always be with him anytime after that.

How is he doing today ....still crying as much?

And, we would love to see pics of your boy.

forum advice:

post pictures and your responses and advice will increase about 100x.

spend a lot of time with the puppy, play time mostly.

take him outside to do bizness for sure, but also just to sniff around, pee on stuff etc. dogs love the outdoors - the inside is not normal for them (says captain obvious)

you also need to start slowly teaching the dog to be away from humans (and i mean slowly) if thats part of the plan.

crate training works wonders (did for me at least) - search the forums for some good threads.

start with short time in the crate (5-10 minutes) and slowly build up to hours (SLOWLY) so that when you are at work for 8 hours when the dog is older, they know how to handle it.

good luck - husky/lab should be fun!

Oh a Husky/Lab? I'd love to see what he looks like!

My puppy (quite different from yours, he is a Lhasa/Mini Poodle, tiny little guy!) was like that when we first got him, too. It just takes some time for them to get used to the change and being away from their doggy family.

Your puppy seems a little bit extra sensitive to it though, so I would recommend really just spending a lot of time with him and giving him the physical and emotional affection he needs to grow into a confident, happy dog!

Don't forget those pictures
