I checked out your link and I have one thing to say.....E I E I O!
"The Zoo", indeed! And such adorable critters. The picture on the couch is priceless....was Toby stretching or sleeping? I've got a real soft spot for beagles and "Aww"ed out loud at Sneaky. Looks so much like the beagle I had, nearly identical markings....*sigh*....I sure miss mine. Is that you in the picture, Dee? If my brother runs into you in Keswick he's going to fall in love! Beware of a big guy with a shaved head, likely wearing a Maple Leafs jersey! |

In my defense, that zoo link has multiple pics of different fuzzy friends. We've got 11 animals:
2 dogs 2 snakes 3 turtles 2 hamsters 2 fish We divide up the efforts, so I look after 2 of the turtles, the dogs, the fish and the hammies. Adam looks after the snakes and the third turtle. My hammies are getting old though I think. They're starting to get that "look". They're both adopted so I have no way of knowing their actual age unfortunately. We lost one in March to old age and it was tough. Not looking forward to it again. I could be wrong of course but I think they're approaching their last year sadly. I think after they go, that'll be it for hammies. They live for so short of time and you get so attached. To see something age so fast in three years is devastating. That's Toby sleeping actually. Its his favourite position and one that he assumes most nights at about 8pm heh. He snores too. He's pretty overweight though so the the snoring might fade as he shapes up a bit. Yep that's me in the picture, assuming MY favourite position: a tshirt on the couch with my beags heh. Dee |

Such a short life hamsters lead. Like you say 3 yrs is usually the max. Your beagles are cute and very well fed.

Sneaks is ideal for her size. Toby is a mix (we think basset) so he'll never be as small as she is. The vet said start with 2-3lbs then we'll reassess.
He's not fat, he's big boned :P. He had a rough life before he landed at the pound which likely contributed to his lack of nutrition however his thyroid problem isn't helping. He started supplements two days ago so maybe in 6 weeks if we can get it normalized his metabolism will pick up. Dee |
