Oshawa To Brampton/mississauga
RAINY DID IT!!!!!
She's managed to save Winnie. Shannon83 has been nice enough to offer to get her to Oshawa, but I'm now trying to find someone, who may be able to bring her from Oshawa closer to Brampton. I do not drive, and do not have any family close by. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated!!! I'm just so excited, I'm having a hard time typing this thread.

I will ask my daughter tonight if we can possibly arrange something she works late all the time but maybe she will have a day off soon and want to help.....How long can rainy keep her?.............I would do it today but my car decided die yesterday and well I haven't the cash to fix it yet. It would take us 45 minutes to get to oshawa and then what? I'm guessing here......2 hours to brampton.....that would mean almost a 6 hour drive maybe we could meet with someone in Toronto.......but as I said have to talk to my daughter first.....she's in hairdressing and works till 7 or 8 at times so after work is no good......let me know how you make out

Oshawa to Brampton is 45 minutes, not 2 hours. And sunderland to brampton is probably about an hour, or less because it's faster because it's more north. I drove it once in a hour (and I don't drive above the speed limit).
I guess it depends on what route you take though. If you can get over to the 400 south after getting south of lake simcoe, brampton is about 20 minutes from the 400 and finch. I don't have a car. Sorry! |

Sunderland to Brampton is a bit more then 1 hour. For Iggette to get to Oshawa would be about 45 minutes.. (depending on the traffic and snow)... then from Oshawa to Brampton is another 45 minutes... traffic again... will be bad during the week until about 8 pm...
that's about 3 hours not including any stops, getting on and off the highways... etc... I would say it's a good 4 -5 hour trip by the time it's done. You have a huge heart Iggette, that's very nice of you! |

I can not express my thinks to all of you for all your help and suggestions for saving Winnie.
Shannon & Rainy's efforts have saved Winnie from certain death, more importantly, as Rainy stories show, Winnie is the most appreciative. Whether with me or elsewhere, Winnie will now have a full, long & happy life. PETS.CA and all its members rock, and thanks to your efforts Winnie will have a wonderful Christmas, and I'm certain, any life she touches will be enriched. Pat yourselves on the back from Winnie

Oh yeah, definately a 4-5 hour trip.
I have access to a car (just found out) this weekend, but my sister asked that I don't use it to look at animals as she is allergic as is her husband and kids. Oh well. Very small car as well, not condusive to picking up animals. |

Shannon 83.......there is no way I can do it today.......I have not yet heard from my daughter, I forgot she mentioned she was going out to a party after work yesterday and she probably won't touch base at home till at least 1 or 2 pm and I have no idea what her plans are.
I think someone better check with rainy as to where winnie will be going first!!!! as she is the one with the cat at present....... and I don't think she feels compfortable handing winnie over until she is sure about winnies potential new owners or am I so confused that I haven't even got that right? By the way I was guessing at the times of travel but there is no way that it is any less than 5 hours I just went to the OC center the other day and yes it took us 45 minutes to get there..... even if I were to drive along davis drive to newmarket it takes 40 minutes from where davis drive starts at #23 I dont know how fast YOUR driving but I like to do the speed limit thanks

Hello everyone
First I would like to say a huge thank you from Winnie and myself for all generous offers of time and driving to get Winnie into her forever home. At this time IMO the best thing for Winnie is to stay here in my home and let her recover from the traumas she has already been through (moves) .I think a little time will show us if Winnie feels too much stress here or if Winnie will choose to adopt us Time and no hasty decisions is what's needed. |

Rainy, thank you for caring about Winnies wellbeing,I think you are doing the right thing!!
As for your kids, maybe they will understand to give Winnie some time and space, she is like an abused child,or a child going from foster-home to foster-home and needs a safe secure haven....I am sure it will not be easy, but cats are resiliant and she will come around with love and patience. Any questions you have or advice needed we'll all be here for you

Hi, I'm new here and for some reason this was the first thread I read on here.
Should you ever decide that Winnie's ready to go home to Brampton, just let me know. I live in Brampton and my mom lives in Oshawa, and I usually visit her every other weekend, and I'd be happy to transport Winnie back home; it would be no trouble at all. Just let me know |
