A few questions

Hello, I am a new member.
I have been looking for some answers and found this forum.
My dog Bella just had puppies - well, they're one week now - and I didn't know what to do with our cat Bailey. I was a bit scared so I kept him upstairs while the dogs and puppies are downstairs. But I was wondering when and how it will be safe to allow Bailey out. He's not complaining much, but he is confined to our room because it was the place that had more of his play things and his seat by the window. I am not sure if i should worry or not. When Bailey came to us as a very young kitten our dog Tazz - which is kind of big - was super gentle with him and even used to push him to the litter box after eating. But that was an adult dog and a baby cat, how about the other way around?
I appreciate any input as I will have to let him out at some point and I'm wondering if it is wise to wait until the puppies are up and about and can be a bigger "nuisance " to the cat.
Thanks
