Introducing Marcie . . . .

As you may remember, things were very sad around our place when Abby & Keeper, our two 12 year-old Golden Retrievers passed away within 26 days of each other in late 2010.

Yesterday, we took into our house Marcie, an eight month old Golden female and we hope to add Ruby, a 1.25 year-old Golden female on Sunday.

Marcie is very energetic, below leaping the roughly 5.5 foot pile of snow I've shovelled off our deck . . . . she's already wary of Polly, our handicapped, two-footed feline terror while Skyler, Maude and Daisy have all plunged in head first in loving her to death.

. . . . . and more zoomies . . . .

below, some posing . . . .

and, below, a moment to study this big, brave new world . . . .

. . . . and, below, since it was still well underneath 20 below in this picture, holding a foot out to try and get warm. . . .

. . . . . leads to some couch time to warm up . . .

. . . . and back outside for more exploring . . .

and pausing to investigate what might be on the other side of the fence . . . . . but there will be many more years to figure that out.

Marcie was offered to us soon after Abby's passing but before Keeper left us . . . . . and much too soon for us to accept.

But the opportunity for Ruby came up last week and, we thought, in for a penny, in for a pound, leading to us to check if Marcie was still an opportunity. She was.

You never say never until they're in your yard, but it looks like we will add Ruby on Sunday.

Both previous owners felt they weren't giving their pooches the time they needed.

Sometime in the next few weeks I will alter the cover of www.goldentales.ca to reflect Marcie & Ruby's new presence, give them a 2011 photo blog and space to begin their own Epik Journey recollections. Abby & Keeper's history will be mentioned on the front and will always have a one-click link to their entire site.

And so . . . . . it begins again.

Rick C

OMG! I'm so thrilled and I really needed this pick me up right now. Marcie already looks like she knows she's landed in doggy heaven right here on earth. She's gorgeous. And then Ruby to come also. Rick I'm so glad for you and Carol. They will never replace Abby and Keeper, but they will only add to the wonderful times and memories. I'm just thrilled and think I'll log off now on this happy thought.

I was thinking the same. Heck...I may not be blond but I can definately bark and eat relatively well from a bowl.
You could actually potentially look at me as being a rescue.

I knew you would not be able to go long without filling your home once again with Goldens. Bless you and Carol for taking on two more. You both rock.
I'm quite sure Abby and Keeper are watching from above. They may even send the newbies are few messages on how to behave like perfect ladies.

Rick, congrat's to you and your wife. These are splendid photo's of the oh so beautiful Marcie. She is just so golden, a glorious colour, and such a lovely face. If she was a town dog in her previous life she must absolutely love her new home. Hope you have many, many happy years with her and Ruby. Your goldens at the Bridge would be pleased that these two new girls will be as happy as they were with you both.
