Buzzed!

Ariel got her first grooming on saturday. Have to get rid of her baby fur so she would shed less. When I picked her up I couldn't recognize her. She looked like a totally different dog!

As a reference, here's a before picture:

Here she is after being groomed:

I'm quite the camera freak with her. So I apologize for the amount of pictures. I can't imagine how many pictures and videos I will be taking when I have a kid!

She is just precious! Don't worry - the more "kids" you have (2 legs or 4), the fewer pictures you take - no time!!

Very cute! I bet she's more comfortable, too (cooler)!

After my son was born, my brother used to tease me that he was going to think the video camera was my siamese twin, always sticking out of my head!

Now everyone says the same thing about Raj, my son- and my digital cam!

Neeless to say, I'm camera-crazy, too. It's hard when everything the fur(and furless)babies do seems like the perfect shot! I think it just shows we have a high appreciation for how adorable they are.

I love the fur of an animal when they've been clipped. Nice and soft.

She is beautiful.
How old did you say she was? I want to get Sophie groomed as she is getting an Afro, but I don't know if she is old enough. Shes 3 months.
How do they get them to sit still? She won't sit still for me when I pin her hair up.

I groom my poodle myself. The earlier you start, the easier it is for them to become accustomed to the process. Doesn't have to be a full haircut the first time, sometimes just a trim around the face is enough. It helps if you routinely massage and get them used to handling their paws when they're laying on your lap.

shihtzulover, as glassglass mentioned, get them used to being handled all over. Ariel was quite a handful as the groomer told me. She lets me brush her without a fuss but doesn't like it when I cut her nails and trim her face. I guess I will have to do more massaging on a daily basis. I also have to get her accustomed to the hair dryer. She gets quite scared of it.

Oh yeah, she's turning 5 months this saturday! It seems so long that we've had her already but its only been 2 months!

The froggie doggie pose is her favourite position. We just hear her walking around then a loud "THUMP!" as she plops on the floor.

How precious is that I have the same cut for Jordie about every 10 weeks and he hates going but loves the feel after. I do have his face alittle shorter it keeps it clean free of food.
So fresh clean and soft, Jordie is perfect for his groomer now but was not always. Hates anything near his face, his first cut was at 6 months. Wait till you see how fast it grows back, I must say she looks great for the first cut your groomer did a wonderful job.
