"Fitz" the Cats Mom has a Pee Question?
I'm a Mom of 2 OLD TIMERS. Mo and Fitz are both 15 and are inside babies.
Mo is a Tonkinese and Fitz is a Ragdoll. Over the past couple years Fitz has lost about 5 lbs and he's been diagnosed with arthritis so he often will poo on the carpet rather than the catbox. I just happened to be near the cat box when Fitz climbed in and peed. I noticed that it was rather "foamey". I worry about kidney disease, any thoughts??? I love my babies! Mom |

The foaminess might just be from the force of the stream, kinda like if you have the nozzle of your garden hose on "jet". Do your cats go for yearly or twice yearly senior exams? If not, they should, since that's the only way to catch any ailments before symptoms appear.
As for the arthritis, are you giving Fitz any supplements like glucosamine/chondroitin (Cosequin is a good one)? I also have a 15 yr old kitty with pretty bad arthritis in his elbows. I noticed a significant improvement after putting him on Cosequin and MSM. Took about 6 weeks but his persistent limp is now gone. You might also want to think about finding a litter box with lower sides (like one of those under-the-bed type storage boxes), or else cutting out a shallower "doorway" in his existing box. Keeping the amount of litter to no more than an inch deep also helps with his balance and stability while in there.

Hum, I never thot of that!
Mo and Fitz do get regular check ups and I'll post a pic or 2 in the days to come! Thanks.

Something else to consider if you're worried about kidney insufficiency is Mo and Fitz's diet. What are they eating now (dry? canned?)?

Fud !
Good thought, both boyz eat some dry, Iams lamb and rice along with a nice size helping of wet, Avoderm. Fitz has, since he was a baby, a tendency to throwup. Look at him wrong, don't say hello, any stress at all and he'll retch. So this combo seems to keep the food "down".
