Exclamation Walking moustaches

I just came up from the basement attempting to pick out goodies in the litter-boxes Stopped dead in my tracks by the sight of this HUGE centipede(think that's what they are),with my heart racing I ran back upstairs, sans goddies
There is nothing that gets to me like those things,I am terrified,I've been known to be a few meters away from one and throw a phone-book at them, the only surefire way to kill it.
I can live with spiders, mice and I catch flies to let them free, but these things with all their legs, just about give me a heartattack.
Oops, hubby is up,he's going to have to assassinate the monster, then I can go back downstairs safely

Eeeeeeewwwwwww! I've always said, if it has more than 4 legs, it isn't welcome in my home. You waited for hubby to wake up on his own? You're braver than I. I would have been screaming in his ear to wake up - night shift or no night shift!!!

I get them too

Yeah they are pretty nasty. I've cut down on them from getting in my appartment by silicon sealing around the baseboards, but they sometime travel up through the pipes and come out the drains. You can leave the plugs in, but if you're anything like me, you'll forget to lol.

I have a footprint on my wall from turning around and stomping my foot to kill one (it was near my rabbits cages *sniff*). I'm not afraid to kill them myself, just as long as I get it within the first shot, and there's no chance of it moving when I pick it up with a paper towel.

Luckily the centepedes I get are nothing like the ones they sell in pet stores!

Oh my gosh I know I hate those things with a passion. And they DO bite too!
They give me the willies, I really don't like them...any insect/bug other then them I can deal with but not those buggers.

Seems like it takes a tank to destroy them, they keep coming back to live unless you squish them flat and keep squishing. UUUUHHHH!

It's the humidity from the rain lastnight Anita that brought them out!

Wow,crawling up your arm,I would DIE!!
Luba,I know they come with the humidity and this summer I've seen lots of them. They are so darn quick, but Vinnie has managed to kill a few,Rocky and Chico won't go near them
I have an absolute, hysterical phobia about them,to my hubbys amusement
Once he got up,the monster was nowhere to be found, but I know he's there somewhere and I walk downstairs very carefully, one step at a time
Anyway,I am glad I am not the only one feeling this way,my husband read all of the posts, thinks we are all crazy

Ohhhh!!! I really do think they're cute! But I wouldn't feel that way if one was crawling up my arm... inchworms too, so adorable. Spiders, no. Cockroaches, absolutely not. Rats... depends on if they're clean and tame and someone's pet!!!

I know these longlegged awful things are not called milipedes or centipedes,it's something else pedes Regular centipedes outside don't scare me.....or caterpillars they are cute, unless they're eating my flowers
I was watching Canadian Idol and saw one running quickly,OMG can they run,Chico saw it too and went after it,but hubby had to kill it.....
He put it in the toalett, maybe the water will revive him and he'll visit me,while I'm doing my thing

I can't even look at them they're wiggly nasty bodies UUUUGHHH

I squished one in the bsmt one time and it kept crawling, squished it until it was in half it kept crawling, emptied half a can of carpet cleaner on it it kept crawling

OOOOHHHHH saw one in my closet a week ago, didn't go in there for several days. Good thing I had clothes in the drawers and in the laundry

Yiiiiiickkkkk!!!! Man, I had one crawl up my leg while I was in the washroom "otherwise occupied".... now that is an uncomfortable situation! Especially when your first instinct is to run!!! Instead I screamed bloody murder and had hubby chase it! Men are handy for situations like that!

Is this what you're looking for?

We hired a zoo-type show for my son's 5th b-day. They brought an assortment of critters - most of which I could put up with. BUT, when he whipped this one out, I just about scrambled up the curtains!

Changed the pic to give a bit more of a close-up...

Hubby killed 3 of them yesterday all up-stairs,I think I am being invaded
The litterboxes and my laundry downstairs will have to wait until I get reinforcement
Thank's for the support girls,I thought I was the only one in the world absolutely terrified of these thingys

I hate those things - we used to have them in the book shop I owned and they would crawl up the books and then vanish. It was in an old building, and I thought they just lived in old buildings - now I feel all creepy that they might be living in my house! We used to tell the shoopers that they were book worms - uggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

There were 10 kids, ranging in age from 5 to 12 yrs old, all clamoring for a chance to have this thing crawl on their hands! The kid in that actual shot was my friend's son (6 yrs old).

They are the sweetest things. You guys are freaking out at nothing! Scared of a tiny thing the size of a worm? Are you nuts? Think of the things the centapeid thinks about you!

I'll tell you what they're thinking. They're thinking "Hmmm. What a nice, fat tree to crawl up and start munching on." Provided they're thinking at all, what with brains the size of a grain of sand and having to keep track of all those creapy legs moving at the same time (shiver). Like I said - more than 4 legs, NOT welcome in my house!!

The ones that we have are the ones that aren't like worms - more like long spiders with long legs and FEELERS -uggggggggggggg - they are disgusting. See picture on the plate above - YUK! Now I hear that Kincardine is also the center for termites - with those and the centerpedes - I think I am moving tot Barrie - I don't think the black flies can beat those. I am shivering all over just thinking about them

Ok, I have a problem with whoever posted the pictures of them. I can't even bare to go back and look to see who it was. I hadn't seen those things in over ten years since I left Ontario and that picture just sent shivers up my spine. Those things move so fast it's terrifying.

I've always said that the world would be a better place without centipedes and skunks. Skunks are the only other animal other than centipedes that I'd personally like obliterated.

Honey, we have our fair share of creepy crawlies in Barrie! This year has been exceptional for earwigs - all that rain! And apparently the Massassagua (sp?) Rattle Snake has been found as far south as Horseshoe Valley, and keep moving south each year. Oh, and don't have bonfires in the summer, 'cause the giant June Bugs just love to divebomb your head as you roast marshmallows!! Not to mention the dozens of Tarantulas (yes, Tarantulas) that come up with the produce every year and escape into the wild (ok, they die in the winter, but there are always more each spring!).

Writing4fun - have dealt with Tarantulars in Singapore and in the West Indies - yuk - but I don't think they would run wild in the Barrie area, unless they escaped from a house (yes heard about that one ) My daughter has earwigs coming out of her basement in droves - and we have them here as well - don't mind them at all - but those long legged 4 to 6" things with all those legs and feelers........ Even my JR's wont take on those things. No, those above spiders are my downfall - there isn't anything cute about them when you can hear the boots marching and the teeth clacking and they are looking directley at you We still intend to move to the Barrie area next year - even with rattlers and June bugs etc.
