does he like to swim , that will get a dog tried. He is a working dog and you may need to find a job for him too so he'll not get bored .

Maybe you could try geting him a backpack to carry on his walks.
You could try teaching him "clicker training" You could try "scent tracking" You could try "flyball" Play a game in the house where you hide something and make him find it. Just a few thoughts!! Good Luck with your bundle of energy

OOPS! I was thinking about it being spring here and forget you still have winter. My last dog was a Standard Poodle and he did not like to swim. And poodle means puddle in German, I guess no one told my dog he was a water dog.

I would work on training indoors, teach some tricks, etc.
Some suggestions : http://trainyourshelterdog.com/the-b...ffin-tin-game/ (haven't personally tried this one, but heard great things) http://dogtrainer.quickanddirtytips....d-weather.aspx (we play the 'find it' game A LOT... ) Mental stimulation will tire a puppy out much quicker I find rather than extended periods of exercise Good luck! |

extended exercise hypes them up more. If you want him calm in the house there's no reason why he can't learn to go to his mat and chill out. You don't have to be a constant source of entertainment for your dog, no matter how old he is.

I currently have a pup that just finished obedience training. One of the things they teach quite early and I love it is this . Its called "look at me" or "watch me". To learn it you hold a treat up high say in front of your face and say the command. If they do it you treat. Continue on saying and treating it. It comes in so handy. A great way to distract a pup for example if something is going on around them. You can say it and once learned they will do it.
If you have a large enough property you could teach tracking..they have to use their nose.
