With a nice gesture from a friend supplying a back up of batteries , Mollie is able to continue her points trying to catch Mr. Bee-M! Mom on the other hand, tries to relax and get a glimpse of hummingbirds. The End!

She does have quite the stylish point on her, klm! And quite the grudge against Mr. Bee-M
Nice hummer, growler! Don't those suncatchers really brighten up a window, klm? Especially on an otherwise gloomy day

Mr Bee-M was doomed from the time he arrived in our house.
Sun catcher really does brighten up a dull window. If you noticed, I placed the catcher on the window in line with the feeder outside the window.

Awww Molly . She really looks like a lanky teenager these days but still beautiful.
Also, saw this recently as a post from Patricia McConnell (famous behaviourist) .... A note of caution about laser pointers: Behaviorists like me spend an inordinate amount of time working with people whose dogs have become compulsive about laser pointers… and then lights shining through the window, and then rays of sunlight or reflections off of a shiny surface. I had one client whose dog became dysfunctional, staring for hours at the wall waiting for a light to appear. Of course, we don’t see the examples of all the dogs who have no problems with laser pointers, so we see a skewed sample. However, I’ve seen enough trouble to be very very cautious about them and also in that post was a suggestion from someone who used the laser pointer toy to always have the same end to the game (ie shine the toy on your foot and say "all gone" etc) so the dog learns the light goes away.

TeriM--she's such a knutt when it comes to play time. The Bee-M has been used in moderation with all furkids. Mollie is particularly fond of it outside only at the last bedtime outing. I like the idea of shining it on my foot and saying "all gone!" Gonna have to give that command a whirl!
Thanks everyone for the posts. Mollie sure loves her pointing instincts and we enjoy fulfilling her natural beauty. I've only seen one or two hummers coming by between the evening hours of 5 to 8. What I had tonight was 3 orioles fighting over the feeder and jelly jar! I'm making a new jelly holder out of a cedar shingle. It's almost finished and will post pictures in TJTwitter.
