LOST - DLH brown/white cat in Ottawa....FOUND!!!!!

Hi everyone,

My parents' cat Topsie dashed out and went missing last night and is nowhere to be found. This is an indoor cat who only goes out on a harness/leash. The few times she has 'escaped' before, she normally flops down on the ground and rolls around purring for you to pick her up - or- she disappears for only about 20-30 minutes and is back. They've been searching all night and most of today and tonight as well and no luck.

If you have seen her, please let me know!
approx. 12 year old Domestic Long Hair (very fluffy) - brownish (tabby-like) and white markings
6 toes on each of her front paws - she is declawed (don't get mad - she came that way when my parents got her!)

Please come home, Topsie!!!

If she's an inside cat, it's likely that she is very close by. Keep walking around the neighbourhood, she may have been locked inadvertently in someone's shed or be simply too disoriented to come out from wherever she is hiding. They can lose their 'radar' within a few blocks. Start close to home, moving in circles further and further away.

Forgive me if you've done all these things, but here are a few ideas:

Posters sometimes get ripped down. Check daily, and replace them. Post EVERYWHERE. Ask people in your neighbourhood if they have seen her. Some folks don't look at posters but if you speak to them in person and show them a picture, you might jog their memory.

Contact the SPCA or any other animal rescue organization in your area. Go there in person every day. Don’t just phone; most people in rescue are so overwhelmed, she might get lost in the shuffle. Fill out lost reports & leave them a copy of the flyer.

Post "Lost cat" ads on any relevant internet sites. Here are a couple. No doubt you can find more local boards.

She sounds like a beauty. Time is of the essence, but don't give up if she's gone for a week or two, we all know cats who have suddenly reappeared or are found two streets over, being fed by someone else.

Please let us know what happens.

Hopefully I'll be back on here soon to say she is found, but until then please keep her in your thoughts!

FOUND!!! Topsie is home safe and sound!

Great news!!! I just heard from my parents last night that our missing cat, Topsie, found her way home somehow....almost 2 weeks after going missing. They couldn't believe their ears when they heard a 'mew' at the back door! She is a lot lighter and was starving but otherwise fine. She is enjoying a nice big plate of tuna as we speak......Thank you God!
