naughty chinchillas
I had my chinchilla's out in the basement today (in what i Thought was a chinchilla proof room...) and i didnt notice at first but the "little angels" ( )were eating insulation(i think thats what its called, the pink fluffy stuff inside walls) anyways i stopped them as soon as i saw them eating it but i was just wondering, is it going to be harmful to their system? should i take them to the vet?
Thanks! -Megan

I'd say yes, head to the vet.. Insulation (i.e. fiberglass) is made of tiny shards of glass... Not likely that it will pass through without poking and sticking pieces of glass in their GI tracts. Good luck! I hope everything turns out well.

Oh my! Thank you, i wasnt aware it could be THAT dangerous to them!I was going to take them to the vet for a check-up sometime within the next month because i just got them 2 weeks ago and i wanted to make sure everythig was ok... now i guesse i'll have to try to make an appointment asap!

Thanks for asking, They're doing good, happy as ever. I completely "chin proofed" the room, (no more insulation for them!) I havent gotten the chance to take them to the vet yet but i did find a vet office in my town that does small animals so i'll give them a call within the next few days to make an appointment for a check-up!
By the way, i'll post pictures of them as soon as i figure out how(complicated camera )
