Dog limping on and off. Help!

Before anyone writes I need to say I have made an appointment with the vet but it's a week away. I love my 2 year old rotweiler as much as I can and want to know what to expect. When he runs or plays he gets limping on his left hind leg. It's goes away after either a day or a few. He has a hard time getting up when laying down during the time he's limping. I can't feel anything and he dosnt react to me massaging his leg. It's not his paw because they are fine. I think it could be his hip but I don't know. Any answer is appreciated!

My dog was having similar problems. She would limp after getting up from laying down for a while, but then it would go away. At the last vet visit the vet she suggested her knee was weak & would go in and out of the socket. Now she takes glucosamine once a day and it really has helped. No more limping! Hopefully that's all it is.

My last dog was limping on his front leg and I thought he hurt it jumping up too high. He had a vet appointment coming right up and I told the vet about my dog limping and he had lyme disease . This one thing to think of if you can't feel anything wrong with your dog leg.

Luxating patella perhaps? Not sure that its common with your breed but symptoms can "come and go" and it does sometimes present with leg stiffness. If so this could be easily assessed by a veterinarian. There are varying degrees so treatment varies. Good luck!
