Gotta be careful with them though this time of year--they typically nest less than 5 feet from the ground in low trees or bushes, so dogs can wipe out the nest pretty easily.

Smiley,I have 2 bird-houses in the backyard, hidden in the vine on my house, they both have sparrowbabies and parents working hard feeding them.
Their only enemy is the Blue Jay,not a favorite bird of mine, but they are still birds There are sooo many different kinds of Sparrows, most people do not care for Sparrows, but nature would be a very quiet place if we did not have these little chatter-bugs

How big is the entry, Lukka'sma? Might be too big...too easy for a raccoon to get an arm in?
It might also be too "close" where you have it hanging. Most birds like it a little bit open around the house so predators can't hang out in the branches and nab 'em as they exit. Can't really tell from the pic how close to the foliage the house is, but it looks pretty close...

It looks to me like the opening is a bit big and although a tree seems to be the logical choice for a birdhouse, not a very safe one for any babies.
Too easy for any predator to get too, even cats. I have mine right under the eaves of the house and they are safely covered by our Virginia Creeper.so far they are undiscovered by any predator, but the little ones are awfully noisy.

I haven't tried a birdhouse yet, but that would be fun to do as well! Is it probably too late in the season now this year? How do you attach them to your house/vine? I had a birdhouse at my previous house, but just had it hanging on a shepherd's hook stand since I had no trees in that yard. Never got anyone to stay there though.

Don't worry, before you know it,you'll be filling that feeder every day
I had a feeder exactly like yours once, thinking it was Squirrel-proof,I think I have a pic here somewhere.. We don't have underground cable here,so my birdhouses are attached to the hooks holding the phone and TV -cables. Here's the pic...there is no such thing as a squirrel-safe feeder

Great pic, chico!
Our squirrels kept pulling the tops off the feeders and crawling inside to pig out. We finally went out and bought mesh feeders with covers that latch on them to keep the squirrels out. Didn't take the squirrels long to loosen the mesh enough to be able to crawl in under the cover. Now they can sit inside the feeder and stay dry in the rain while eating all the bird seed! So much for "squirrel proofing"! But I find the squirrels almost as entertaining as the birds, so I don't really mind. I just have to fill the feeders a little more frequently...

LOL, Chico! That is hilarious! I just got that feeder at Target, so we'll see how long it takes the squirrels to discover it.

It's a bad picture, but I finally got a robin on my feeder today. Something other than a sparrow! LOL! It was actually eating the spilled seeds on the ground.

Smiley,Robins do not normally eat seeds,I've seen them at my spilled seeds to,but they are pulling out worms, easier for them were there is no grass.
I too have a bald spot where the seeds have killed the grass and the Robins love to go there for worms. Nice pic,I adore Robins, nicer pic than this one from last winter...

Our robins still love to hunt for worms in the garden, but I'm afraid hazel has ticked off the hummingbirds. We were gone yesterday and she didn't hang out enough feeders This morning there were only 3 birds lookin' for breakfast. We're hoping the rest of them come back soon

I saw just a few all day, then had a board meeting tonight--but hubby said that when it got on towards dusk, a whole contingent of the little darlin's showed up to partake of the nectar. So we're good! whew! Thanks for asking!

Awww, that's good to hear! I still haven't seen any this year yet! I had a handful of them last year, but none so far this year. Unless they're sneaking in and out during the early morning hours while I'm sleeping, lol.

I often sit in my little sanctuary around 7pm outside and read or just watch the birds and I find the birds coming out of the woodworks at that time, all kinds of them,no Hummers here though, but everything else

Took your advice, Chico! Just sat outside near the tree and read a book and soon enough, birds popping out of the bushes everywhere. LOL! Mostly swallows, but a few new guys as well. Yay! I just refilled the feeder yesterday, but they've almost cleaned it out again already! I'm off to Target in a few minutes and added more bird seed to my shopping list.

They were brave because they didn't mind Petey sitting in the doorway sleepily watching them from about 7 feet away. (Notice how Petey manages to stay in the air conditioning yet again). Although curiosity finally won out and he had to go over to investigate.

To add insult to injury, he had to eat a few sunflower seeds. The birds chirped loudly about that!

Awww Petey,so sweet
The second pic is a Chickadee, they are such cute little guys and quite tame..the rest are Sparrows I think. You just have to get yourself a bird-book and a pair of binoculars, then you'll be a fullfledged bird-nut,just like me...

Chipping Sparrows and house sparrows, it looks like.
No matter how exotic the other visitors get, though, it's the chickadees that have my heart. I just love those little guys! Chico, I think we're getting Smiley hooked!

Yep, I'm getting hooked.
I cropped the pictures closer so I can see the birds better. Do I have these right? This is the house sparrow?
