Need tips about boarding

I'm thinking of boarding cats in my home (one at a time, or two if together). In fact I think I have my first client. Of course I need some kind of contract.

Can someone who does this for a living give me an idea of what should be on the contract?

I don't do it for a living (yet) but I got a book, called "Kennels and Kenneling" by Joel McMains. It's mainly about dog kenneling but there are checklists for everything and form examples in there. It also has possible floor plans etc to a lot of the stuff you won't need.

Talking

If you want I can send you a copy of my contracts that I use.The copy in french I can e-mail /english I have to mail ,since I my computer seems to have eaten it.Mine is based on the ABKA contract and checked over by lawyer. It would probably be a good idea to get in touch with the association of petsitters,I think I have thier e-mail if you want it and they can let you know exactly what you would need in your contract. They are a canadian association.

Thanks guys!! This is very helpful. I'm not planning on a kennel of any sort, just home pet-sitting on occasion. I just want to make sure no one is going to dump an animal on me and that everything is clear.

Lise, I'd like to see your contract. French is fine!

Lucky that is a good point, never thought of anyone dumping a animals on me either. I do dog sitting for a few people but it's only word of mouth I don't put ads out as I only want a couple of dogs at a time. I keep them in my house and they are treated as they are my own pets. My dogs have alot of fun with others and it's great to see them playing with so many different dogs. First they must come for a visit with parents to be sure everyone gets along ok, after that I will babyset. We've had a few different bred from small to large..a great dane.

That is too sweet. Thank you. You might not be so impressed if you actually heard me speaking French.
