Nighttime Diarrhea?
My 6 month old puppy has been getting diarrhea but only at night time. She’s fine during the day. It usually last about 2 nights but recently has been doing it more often.
She is otherwise healthy, she’s eating normal, drinking, running around, acting like a happy little puppy. Even at night, other than the squirts, she doesn’t act sick. At first I thought she was just sick a few times (We’ve only had her for 2 months) but now that I’m realizing the pattern I’m starting to wonder if it’s some kind of anxiety or something?? Just thought I’d ask for some opinions or advice… |

What's your schedule in the evening? Is there lots of excitement?

Also, what is she eating? And have you taken a fecal sample in to the vet recently?

As well as the questions that have already been asked how much does she weigh, how many times a day do you feed her and how much each time?

Thanks for the replys!
I took her to the vet today and they did a fecal on her (even though she just had one 2 weeks ago) because well she's always at the vet lol They didn't find anything but gave me some pills to try, just in case. I'm putting her on a rice and chicken diet for a few days. She's 33lbs and usually eats twice a day about a cup and 1/2ish each feeding. She's on Purina Puppy chow for large breeds, and honestly I think it's the food. I'm going to switch her after this bag is done, because we just got it. We play with her at night but not around bedtime, so not much excitement I'll see how she does tonight and the next few days, plus after the diet, if its the food or what. Vet said if nothing changes bring her back in for more test but so far, she just seems to have an upset stomach?? |

Dont forget to slowly introduce the new food along with the old stuff.
When I switched my Puppy I started when I was around 1/2 bag left. That way its not such a shock to the system & cause more issues. Do you have pics We love puppy pics here |

What to do
My 5 month old golden retriever has severe diarrhea only at night. She has not had a change in diet (new bag of puppy food however), stress or environment. She is herself all day and night and only after being put in her kennel at night does the problem occur. During the day and night, her stool is soft but has form. From midnight until 6am it is a different story. I took her to the vet and they gave her anti-diarrhea meds but here it is 2 am and she has run out the door twice so far tonight. Please help us.

Did your vet do a fecal test?
How many times a day do you feed her and how much for each meal? Also, what are you feeding her? |
