Burping, stretching, very quiet
Ok...I know not to panic, but Buster just isn't himself tonight. Normally when I get home he waits in his "house" until I open the crate door, comes out calmly and goes to the door to go out.
Well, tonight...he didn't come out when I opened the crate for a few minutes....finally came out, stretched (almost cat like) and sat down. I went to him to pet him and he burped a few times....then stretched some more. He has gone out to pee, no poops yet. He just lays on the ceramic tiles and isn't interested in anything. He ate a couple of treats after he went out a couple of times...just seems to have no energy. Just keeps stretching and burping...I figure he has an upset tummy??? He was sitting looking at his water bowl, so I gave him fresh water, he has eaten a couple of pieces of kibble but loses interest quickly. Hopefully he is just extra tired because my grandson was over last night. (NO RAISINS WERE INVOLVED IN THE VISIT....like the last time )

Is he panting or showing any signs of pain?
Could he have eaten anything that he shouldn't have, either food wise or of the less edible variety? Stretching can be a sign of stomach discomfort and paired with the burping I'd be thinking he at least has some uncomfortable gas. Though I'm sure you'd do this anyway, if there's any sign of pain or vomiting (or trying to), straining to poop, excessive drooling, etc. you'll want to get him to a vet. |

Nope...no signs of pain...I have pressed his tummy a bit to see if he had sore spots and he was fine. No vomitting, no straining to poop or pee, no panting....just a bit lethargic. We were VERY careful last night to make sure that my grandson didn't accidently leave something laying around....no raisins, no chocolates.
Definitely if Buster feels the same tomorrow, I will take him to the Vet for a quick checkover (hopefully before the "weekend emerency" prices set in!!)

Busterboo lots of times Winston has an off day where his tummy is gas like. I give him pepto bismal once in awhile and it calms his tummy..My vet says its okay to give it..and it does work.
Poor boy! Cindy

Well, Buster seemed better this morning and was happy to see me when I got home! Then he went to the patio door and had explosive pukes and now he is eating again.....not sure what that was all about and I know he shouldn't be eating, but I figure he knows if his tummy needs food right now
I will definitely keep an eye on him tonight and if still puking, off to the E-Vet! I will try and find some pure pumpkin tomorrow and if still has an upset tummy try that. How much do you give a 17lb dog?????

Is he pooping yet? Pumpkin won't help the pukies... Poor guy.
If he's not pooping, I'd take him in and have him looked over. Vomiting can be one of the symptoms of a blockage. Hope he's better by tomorrow!

Well, he had a big poop earlier tonight, so I guess that rules out any blockage??? He seems better, just a bit quieter than usual...he wants to play with his cuz but then after a minute...lays down and rests.... His mood is better than yesterday...so hopefully it was just a bug of some sort and it has passed??? He isn't doing the "cat stretch" anymore....a few little burps still but seems to be getting better....
Why do I worry so much??? I think he is just testing me!
