second escape

she did it again ! They were all outside, I was checking up on them every 5-10 minutes like I always do. Then I see Bailey and Molly looking outside the gate, Lilly is in the driveway. So the chase begun, this time I was dress for it. She almost got hit by a car (and almost cause an accident) 3 times. 2 boys and their mom tried to help me as they had their dog on a leash. I visited at least 6 of my neighbor's backyard. She was always running away until I cornered her. I was soooo mad! I left her in the house and inspected my fence once again. There is NO way she could have crawl under anywhere. So my guess is she just jumped the fence (almost 5 feet high) so miss Lilly will be tied EVERY time she wants out. With not only one,but 2 collars just in case one would get unhooked. I reeeeally need to find a rescue that will take her (one told me they will take her,I've been waiting a month ) this is too nerve racking for me.

Ohh, poor Frenchy . My gram once had a rescue dog that took off all the time and would just stop into any open vehicle. One time she disappeared and didn't come back  . You could try having a harness on her when she is out in the yard and if you attached a long leash then you could catch her real easy.

I have something specially to tie her outside, it's about 20 foot long and I will keep an eye on her too because I'm feeling totally paranoid now. The thing is , I was suppose to have her only for a couple days, until this rescue could take her. But it's been a month now.

Not a good idea to attach a long leash to a harness in case you have to catch her--it might hang up on something... I've heard horror stories of dogs getting hung up on fences and hanging...or dogs unable to get away from other dogs because the leash was hung up...

One of those underground fences that send a signal to a collar might be useful to reinforce the physical fence, but that could be pricey.

Gotta find a foster mom with a higher fence! I don't think your heart can take too many more episodes like this!

Awww, Frenchy .....wasn't she being good before?

I wonder why she is starting to do this now? Are the other dogs not playing with her anymore to keep her occupied? Or is she just not as interested anymore and thinks "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence"?

I guess you have no choice but to tie her up.

That's really tough! When I adopted Honey, years ago, she ran away many times. I had a tall wooden fence, and she would just jump it and go... I spent so much time looking for her *sigh* Eventually she stopped, guess she got to feel more at home

Frenchy, I emailed you...

Oh Frenchy that is horrible.

Maybe tying her on all the time now is the only way. Very stressful indeed

that the other rescue place comes through soon.

I have only had one dog that crawled under my chain link fence and it happened to be a lab, I would not have believed it was possible with his size had I not seen for myself, he was able to wiggle his head under then push up to squeeze thru. He was raised from a pup so to me he possessed the view that the grass is greener on the other side. Inorder to keep him inside the fence I went out and bought 200' of chicken wire fencing that was 3' wide and took the top edge wired it to the bottom 4" of the fence and the buried it one foot down and the rest buried inward toward the yard in an L shape that way even if he dug to try and get out he would be met with the chicken wire plus he did not like digging into the fence with his toes, at first he did make several attempts to dig his way past but eventually gave up, it was a lot of work but worth not seeing near car hits or almost getting hit myself trying to get him especially since I live on a fairly busy street.

We need to find Frenchy a nice looking, sincere, honest, animal loving man with a well paying job to help with that suggestion.

sorry to hear about hudini.........george was like that only he would get out of the house....turned out he would grab the sliding patio door with his mouth and drag them open.. ......i don't know how large your yard is ,but, if you can buy some 90 degree shelf brackets and a roll of chicken wire(both should be cheap)attach to your fence like your putting a shelf there and bend the brackets up or down according to the height you want then attach the chicken wire.......then your yard should be like the yard on prison break

I am soooo confused by this post. What is with the guy who got hit by the plane? I didn't hear this story unless of course it was a few months ago.

I was asking myself the same thing! And why would I want to go out with him ? But you should now ? Don't you work at Concordia ? It seems this guy does.

Chicken coop wire is very cheap the whole reason I used, I had been out shopping and stopped at the farm supply to check the price since it was several years ago that I bought ---2 foot wide by 100' long with 1 " holes = $30

No, no, Wayne. I was just trying to find Frenchy a nice looking, sincere, honest, animal loving man with a well paying job that could fix her fence with the chicken wire. Then you confused everyone with your plane hiiting a guy story.
