New dog with potty training and other issues

I recently acquired a pom from a rescue. She is atleast a year old; never socialized; very afraid of everything; always caged for breeeding purposes; she is starting to come around with me atleast; my husband is another story; the biggest problem is she poops and pees in the house; bought her a very nice crate - but if I can caught her to get her in it is another story and so she poops and pees on the carpet - even if she just came in from outside. I also have another dog that is a good example for her but and she follows and does pretty much what he does but she still has this problem that needs to stop. Please help.

I think in this case, it might be a good idea to go back to basics and start training her all over again like she's a new puppy.
Keep it consistent with you and your hubby, and she'll eventually come around.
A suggestion might be to block off any carpeted areas for a few weeks, or at least for the first half hour when she comes inside. Then if you see her starting to squat, pick her up and rush her outside.
Always give lots of praise when she does relieve herself outside. Maybe reward her with a kibble or 2 for the first little while.

Best of luck. I'm sure it'll get easier as time goes on and she settles in.
Another tip is for putting her in her crate: I like to give my Sibes either a bone to chew on, or a stuffed kong. That way, they easily follow it into the crate, and they're also content to stay there for a while when I'm gone, until they fall asleep.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
