Can I see your cat trees please?

Hi
I know there was a thread a while back about cat trees that people had made or bought. I tried to find it but I couldn't.

I remember one that a lady's b/f made and then later on added on to the top of it. I think it was made of 2 X 4's.

The "kids" Mirabelle and O'Shawnnessy have almost destroyed the tree we built for Willie six years ago. It was in perfect shape until the "kids" got here in September. LOL Since they have been using the bottom platform as a spring board we need to do repairs on it and basically remake it.

I'll attach a couple of pics of this poor tree. LOL It only took these "kids" a couple of months to destroy it. I have also posted a pic of one of the "innocent" cough cough kids.

I'm hoping for ideas on how others did their cat trees.

Thanks
Debbie

Awww, Mirabelle definitely looks too innocent to have done any damage.

I know this isn't the thread you're thinking of but this one has step-by-step photo instructions of building a cat tree ...

Here's an old post from last year showing our tree. They all take turns on it still, so I guess it was a hit.

Rainbow, thanks. I also have that one and I got mine from Walmart too. It's in our living room and the "kids" use it but not as much as the spring board one in the family room.

The one in the family room is about 7ft tall and they love to run up that post and make it rock. One of these days it is going to tip over. It has a 40lb roll of wicker on the base trying to keep it from falling over too!

Here's my solution: It's more of a 'building' than a 'tree', but it gives my "not so athletic" cat a chance to get up really high by taking small jumps up... and yet still gives a challenge my other cat who can jump to the mid level easily. Also after 10 months of heavy use, my cat tree is still going on strong! It's still just as sturdy as when I built it.

Here's another Ikea solution, but much more innovative.

This one is floor to ceiling, from Walmart.
Set it up when Posh was little, see her on the top shelf. 8 mths later, she is still loving it, as you can see here:

That is a very clever idea on how to reuse something that isn't getting used. *S* Lots of room too.

I have seen those at Walmart but didn't know how sturdy they would be with 2 lively kittens climbing up and down them and one older big cat trying to climb it too. Does it wiggle around when Posh climbs it?

That tall one from Wal-Mart has a pole to the ceiling like an old Johnnie Pole...I have ben thinking of getting it as well, but it has no little houses that mine like to sleep in...it might be good as a frame though and build off it...

What I really need to do is get off my lazy arse and build the perfect one from scratch...that is the only way you can rally get one that suite your cats needs.
