TT had a visit to the vets today

As some of you know I had an appt at the vet today for a couple of my catty cats. Well, just when I was going to head over to get the boys to put them in the carriers I saw Timmy stagger. I watched him for a minute. Every time he shakes his head he loses his balance. So guess who went to the vets instead of Brownie and Wheezer.
The vet couldn't find anything wrong with him at this point. She said I was possibly too observant and noticed something wrong before she can actually see anything. All I can do is keep an eye on him and if he gets worse or not any better to take him back in for a recheck. She thinks it's possible he has ear or throat polyps http://www.peteducation.com/article....+2123&aid=1561 and they are just getting started enough to put Timmy off balance. Or he had something in his ear that she couldn't see.
His temp is good. He has no other signs of anything wrong except a slight head tilt and the losing balance. There is no sinus problems or ear infection. All we can do at this point is hope it is something that will either fix itself or will present itself before it gets too serious.
Please keep him in your thoughts. Thanks all.

If he's off balance and has his head tilted, I'd think also there might be something going on in his ear. Hoping he gets better soon.

There are definately worse things to be than "too observant".
for Timmy

No growler. There was nothing to flush out. His ears were very clean. She examined them both very very closely. She couldn't see anything and didn't want to start or do anything that may not prove necessary. That is why she is leaning toward the ear or throat polyps. Especially since he has the head tilt.
His ear drums are fine. He is the same TT in every other way. It's the head tilt and the losing his balance. Very very scary.

Dr M. was finished for the day when I got there. I saw Dr. B. Surprisingly I have talked to her before. She was at the store a while back and happened to go through my lane when I was talking to someone about s/n. Small world.
I hope everything is sorted out soon too. Right now he is cuddled up in his crate for the night sound asleep. I don't want to have to worry about him falling down stairs in the middle of the night.

I hope it's just a quirk!

Y'know, madame hazel tends to tip over when she watches birds up in the oaks or sneezes...just something we've had to put up with for years. Haven't gotten hurt, yet, but it can be embarrassing if there are strangers watching.

Aw poor TT  With dogs, the head tilt is indicative of vestibular disease which is a compression on the inner ear. Maybe he just shook too hard and knocked a little something out of place.

On the upside, if there is anything (which of course there isn't ) you sure did catch it fast. The vet can't even see anything.

Hopefully he is better this morning after a good night's sleep

He is no better this morning. You can see the uncertainty in his eyes when he tries to jump up on the cupboard so he can get a drink out of the sink. He has tried and failed a few times. He won't drink when his cup is anywhere else. He is normally playing with his sister or cousin at this time of the day. Right now he is trying to stay out of their way so they don't knock him over. He has also been trying to jump up on my bed. After numerous times he made it.
It wasn't just a one time thing. It's continual. He will be going back to the vet as soon as I can get him in next week.
DiandPat, I was reading about the vestibular disease. We will have to go one step at a time.
Thanks for the good vibes.

TT, you're worrying all your friends and especially your Mama!! So you get better really soon

I have been a mean mommy today and made TT spend his afternoon in the crate while I was at work. I didn't want to take the chance he would hurt himself when I wasn't here. Hubby was working away from home too so he couldn't check on him.
He seems a little better tonight. Not shaking his head as much although it is still tilted. I am keeping a very close eye on him.

No change. I will be making an appt as soon as I can on Mon morn. That is the soonest I can get him back in. Hopefully this time something will show up. He is still using the box and eating and drinking well.
I am still giving Meowzer meds for his bladder infection and today I started Li'l Bit on Garamycin for her gunky eye. I noticed it this morning. Oh the fun!!

14+, I'm sure TT will be fine. Maybe he's just at the early stage of an inner ear infection. Something easy to treat.
