when will he learn his name?
it's been a week since duffy came home and we're wondering when he'll being to recognize his name. generally, how long does it take a dog?

Often it's not so much the name itself, but your body language & tone of voice. I can holler "raisins!" (or whatever) in a happy, "get over here, doggies" tone of voice & my dogs will come running from wherever they are. And any dog will understand that tone of voice/body language immediately, if they are a: able to and b: choose to.
Is he just not coming to you when you call? That wouldn't be an issue of "knowing his name" but, well, something else. Depends on context. I'd think actually recognising the name itself might take a few days. Dogs initially resond to body language & tone rather than actual words, right away. The words themselves I think they learn by association.
