Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture, Groomers fault?

I am trying to get some information on CCL. I have a mini poodle that is 7 years old, about 4 lbs overweight. She has had one leg operated on for CCL about 2.5 months ago. I recently took her to a grooming shop and when I took her home she was limping on her other leg. Groomers say she jerked her leg while they were cutting her nails. Could this have caused the ligament to ruptue in this leg, or would this most likely just have agrivated a already existing condition?
I would appreciate any help I can get in this matter
Thanks.
